Home Health The Effingham County Health Department through our home health agency can offer the following in home services, under your physician’s orders.
Skilled Nursing: Injections, I.V. therapy, dressing changes, teaching diabetic & colostomy care, drawing blood for lab tests and assessments, vital signs, and medication teaching. Other skilled nursing services can be provided in your home by our registered nurses. Service areas include: Effingham, Jasper, Cumberland, and Shelby Counties.

Maternal and Child Health Family Case Management: Prenatal and pediatric case management provides information and follow-up for children, pregnant women and their families. Case Management includes the following:
Assistance in obtaining a temporary medical card through the Medicaid presumptive eligibility (MPE) program for pregnant woman. Assistance with the KidCare application
Process in obtaining the State's KidCare health insurance for all children and families who qualify.
Assistance in finding a physician. Referral to other social services agencies. Healthy kids provider working with the Department of Human Services and Department of Public Health to see that all eligible "kids" get their immunizations, assessments and screenings in a timely fashion and on schedule.
Women, Infants & Children (W.I.C.): The W.I.C. program is a supplemental food program designed to promote and help provide good nutrition for pregnant and lactating women, infants and children up to five years of age. County residents may be certified to receive W.I.C. food if they meet financial Guidelines of USDA and have an identified medical or nutritional risk.

Clinical Services Immunization Clinic: Every Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursday, and Fridays Clinic is open by appointment. The immunizations are available for adults and children. The childhood immunizations guard against Diphtheria, Whooping Cough, Tetanus, Polio, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B and Haemophilus Influenza B. Adult immunizations available are Hepatitis A and B, Tetanus, Flu and Pneumonia.
HIV/AIDS Program: The Effingham County Health Department is an public health approved HIV counseling and testing site. HIV testing is available anonymously or confidentially. The cost of the HIV test is $20.00 and an appointment can be made by calling the office and speaking to a clinic nurse. Educational information is available upon request.
Industrial Health: The Industrial Health program is new for the Health Department and for the community. Valuable services that are traditionally provided to customers "in the office" are now available on site at many local industries, businesses and agencies.

Community Health The Community Health Division designs and develops new programs and activities for the department. Grant writing along with program and contacts management falls within this department.
