WIC Program
The Women, Infants & Children (WIC) program is a supplemental, nutrition education program funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and is open to pregnant, breastfeeding and post-partum women and infants and children up to 5 years of age.
Eligibility requirements: · Must reside in Effingham County · Must meet income guidelines · Must be a pregnant, post-partum or breastfeeding women · Infant or child up to 5 years of age who has a medical or nutritional risk
Samples of Nutritional Food Packages that WIC provides: Eggs Cheese Cereal 100% Fruit/Vegetable Juice Peanut butter or Beans Whole grain options
· Breastfeeding Women All of the above Tuna/Salmon
· Infants Infant Formula Cereal Baby Food (at appropriate ages)

FCM Program
The Family Case Management (FCM) program provides assistance to clients and their families with medical services, childcare, transportation, housing, food mental health services and other referrals as needed. FCM services are available to women who are pregnant and families who have infants and children under two (2) years of age.
Eligibility Requirements: · Must reside in Effingham County · Must be pregnant or applying for an infant or child under the age of two (2) living in their household
Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program
Breastfeeding Support Group meets every first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Effingham County Health Department
Breastfeeding Peer Counselors help new mothers who are beginning to breastfeed learn what to expect in the first days and weeks. They are available during and after business hours to answer any questions or concerns new moms may have. For more information call 217-342-9237.

Child Passenger Safety Seat Checks
Did you know that 82% of child safety seats are installed improperly? Unfortunately, accidents do happen… be prepared by making sure that your child’s seat is safe. Child passenger safety seat checks are offered for FREE, please call 217-342-9237 to schedule an appointment. The health department has three (3) certified Child Protection Safety Technicians available.

All Kids Health Insurance
All Kids is health insurance offered to all eligible children, pregnant women and their families through the State of Illinois Health Insurance Program at little or no cost. Applications can be obtained from the health department or submitted on line at www.allkidscovered.com .
